The Athletes Village will be a great place to live, providing high quality homes for people in Stratford for years to come.
Phase 1 of the development is already underway, with accommodation for athletes and officials on track to be handed over to the Olympic Delivery Authority in early 2012.
The 2,818 homes at the Athletes Village will include 50 percent affordable, designed for key workers or people on low incomes. Of that 50 percent, most will be for rent, although some homes will be available to buy through innovative schemes like shared ownership.

What will the homes be like?
The Athletes Village will provide a wide range of homes, offering something for everyone.
An international call for architects in May 2007 attracted 434 entries from across the globe. These entries were then narrowed down to a panel of 47 architects. A dozen teams have so far been appointed from this panel to work on different components of the project. But all of the homes will be close to shops and other facilities, and will have access to green and open space, whether that’s a private garden, balcony or roof terrace, or a communal garden or courtyard.
Homes will be grouped together into a number of distinct areas. High buildings with shops, cafes and bars nearby will provide all the buzz of modern city living. There’ll also be quieter, open streets and more secluded, smaller streets lined with town houses and apartments.
