Winners announced from Top 10 Diary Room Videos
Following the Athletes Village Community event in Stratford Shopping Centre in March, winners of the Top 10 Diary Room Videos have now been announced. The event attracted thousands of visitors who had the chance to find out about the opportunities and benefits the project will deliver.
One of the main activities was an interactive voting board for children and adults to share their ideas on designing a perfect park in the Village. Linked to this was a video diary room where people could voice their opinions ‘Big Brother’ style. The best ten videos of people sharing their ideas for parks and public spaces have been available to view on the Athletes Village website where visitors have been voting for their favourite clip.
Congratulations to Fatiman, Maushami Malique, Amrita Sandhu and Sharonjit Bhamra who won first prize of an Ipod Touch 16GB and to Hanan Fatima who won second prize of a Nintendo DS Lite. The winning group were extremely excited about winning and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the diary room.
Hanan Fatima, our runner up, expressed her desire to have clean and safe parks to play in with her family and friends.
Athletes Village will be carefully designed and landscaped – from benches, litter bins; street lighting and specially commissioned public art to lawns, trees, shrubs and gardens. All in all, the development will feature over ten hectares of public green and open space.
All feedback from the community event has been included in the planning application for the parks and open spaces within the Village . Later this year when we receive planning permission, we’ll tell local people how there ideas will shape what is being created.
Rob Johnson, Project Director at Lend Lease for the Athletes Village, said:
“Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to all those who took part. The feedback we receive from local residents is invaluable to us as we progress to the next stages of the development.”
