Puppets in the Public Realm!
The children were encouraged to create stories about their puppets visiting local parks and playgrounds while thinking through what they would like to change about the outdoor spaces they currently use. This abstract approach allowed the children to think ‘outside the box’ and to identify how people could make the most of local public parks.
These local children have been involved in previous architectural education projects and are investigating what makes a safe and enjoyable green space. Their ideas have so far provided the public realm team at Athletes Village with a valuable insight into what local children and their parents hope to see incorporated in the designs.
Public Realm Development Manager at Athletes Village, Craig Becconsall said, “This feedback is of real use and the children have some excellent ideas. Thanks to our Community Development Team and Discover for organising these sessions. I know our architects have found them extremely valuable.”
