Good health is one of the foundations of a thriving community. At Athletes Village, our aim is to promote healthy living in its widest sense.

By providing liveable, affordable homes, excellent education services, jobs and training opportunities, parks, playgrounds and other green space, we want to improve the health of the people living at Athletes Village and in the surrounding areas.

To measure how successful we are, Newham Primary Healthcare Trust is launching a major study into the long-term impact of Athletes Village on the health and well being of local people.

Athletes Village will offer excellent healthcare facilities, available to all local residents, not just those living at Athletes Village, in a new, 2,800 square metre health centre.

As well as providing a base for a number of GPs, the new centre will have the capacity to provide outreach services aimed at helping people stay healthy, including services specifically for children and older people, whilst ensuring that if you do become ill, you’ll have easy, speedy access to the best treatment available.

In fact it will be able to offer everything you’d expect and more, from specialist clinics for travel vaccinations or the management of chronic conditions like diabetes or asthma, to community based services like chiropody, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.

Lend Lease will be working with Newham Primary Healthcare Trust and local people to decide exactly which services the new centre will provide.

One thing that’s already agreed is the centre’s location. It will be situated near to the education campus and other communal facilities, making it quick and easy to access different services at the same time.
