First Base Ltd is a property developer building and managing high quality, stylish and affordable homes in London and the south east of England.

Set up by Lend Lease and Stanhope in 2002 (First Base managers subsequently bought out Stanhope’s shareholding in 2006), we’ve developed a reputation for using forward thinking, innovative design to create outstanding living and community spaces.

First Base is a founder member of the UK Green Building Council and is committed to building sustainably. We’re known for our ability to generate funds and get complex projects off the ground. And we’re recognised for our work to create new kinds of communities, by building different types of properties side by side and offering them to rent or buy through a range of innovative schemes.

The government’s national regeneration body English Partnerships has chosen First Base as one of three preferred partners in the London Wide Initiative, a programme that will see more than 5,000 new homes built on government-owned land in London over the next few years.

As part of the London Wide Initiative, First Base has developed a new way for key workers and people on a low income to buy their own homes, called Homehold ™. Some of the homes at Athletes Village will be available through this scheme.

Across London, First Base is involved in many exciting projects including the £1.5m regeneration of Elephant and Castle and the redevelopment of Greenwich Peninsula, as well as at Stratford City. Through First Thames, its new joint venture company with East Thames Group, First Base will be involved at every stage of the Athletes Village development, from designing properties to managing them after 2012.
