East Thames is the largest housing association in east London and Essex, employing more than 1,000 people. We’ve worked in Stratford and the Thames Gateway area since we were first set up in 1979.

The group is made up of three smaller companies – East Homes, East Potential and East Living:

• East Homes builds and manages residential accommodation. With around 15,000 currently on our books, this figure is set to double between now and 2012 as part of a £500m development programme.
• East Potential provides accommodation for people aged between 16 and 24, as well as training and employment. Right now, we’re working with around 3,000 young people in east London and Essex.
• East Living offers accommodation and support to help people with special needs live in their own homes.

Our aim is to work closely with tenants, so they get the homes they need and want. We’re committed to innovative design, high quality build standards and sustainability. East Thames also has a reputation as an excellent employer and has featured in The Times’ ‘Top 100 Best Small Companies’ list.

Through the joint venture company First Thames, East Thames will help plan and design properties at Athletes Village, as well as managing some of the homes post-2012. A key aim throughout will be to enable local people to make the most of the opportunities that the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, and the longer-term plans for the area, will bring.
