Jobs & Training
Our Targets
Lend Lease and its partners have made a public commitment to use the Athletes Village project to get local people into work.
Our aim is to make sure those living in the area have access to the thousands of new jobs that will be created over the next few years, and that employers can recruit the workers they need, right here in Stratford.
We want to be able to measure our progress towards this goal. And we want out partners, including local people, to be able to see how well we are doing, and hold us to account.
The Stratford City Jobs and Business Strategy sets out some specific targets for the number of local people getting construction jobs and apprenticeships over the next ten years:
General construction jobs
-
1,600 employed from the wider East London area, including at least 400 from the London Borough of Newham.
Apprenticeships and jobs for ‘improvers’ – people with no site experience or relevant training
400 residents on apprenticeships or employer lead training programmes which will lead to sustainable employment.
- 400 ‘improvers’ employed from the immediate area, of which at least 200 will be from the London Borough of Newham.
